NIGERIA'S FOUNDING FATHERS: MASKED AUTHOR OF DISASTER

Yes! Nigeria's Independence was realised after spontaneous Nationalist and Independence movements with other external actors involved. Yes! credit should be given to the Elites that risked everything to ensure an Independent Nigeria.

However, in recent years, we have overemphasized their contributions to the foundation and development of the country.

We have concentrated our resources and efforts to celebrating them for their struggles with the British for the Independence of Nigeria.

We have grown to forget that thesame individuals that fought for our Independence are the author of the structural problems facing the country presently.

As much as it is good to acknowledge their efforts in the struggle for independence, it is important for Political analysts and Historians to remind the people of the disastrous pace these founding fathers set for the country.

We shouldn't present them as "Saint" and keep blaming subsequent leaders for the woes of the country. The problem facing Nigeria is a structural problem initiated by the Europeans and implemented by the adored "Founding Fathers".

My book "NIGERIA'S FOUNDING FATHERS: MASKED AUTHOR OF DISASTER"  which will be out in 2018 gives a detailed analysis of the evolution, development, events, actions and inactions that culminated into the disastrous condition of the country.
