Yes! Nigeria's Independence was realised after spontaneous Nationalist and Independence movements with other external actors involved. Yes! credit should be given to the Elites that risked everything to ensure an Independent Nigeria. However, in recent years, we have overemphasized their contributions to the foundation and development of the country. We have concentrated our resources and efforts to celebrating them for their struggles with the British for the Independence of Nigeria. We have grown to forget that thesame individuals that fought for our Independence are the author of the structural problems facing the country presently.
